If you use a dlsw icanreach macaddress 4000.0002.0000 mask ffff.ffff.00
00
at the remote end, R1 will not need to send explorers to find these mac
addresses. The reachability cache will be populated during capabilites
exchange.
That's how I think it works. Does anyone want to correct me ?

reaching r2. Host still should be able to send data to those mac addresses.
