The answer to your question depends.

On my first run through the early labs, when I was just starting to work on
scenarios, my times were often close to what Marc recommends. The main
objective at that time for me was to develop my methodology, and to learn
the odd technologies that I still didn't know. I wasn't racing the clock,
but I was recording my times for later comparison.

As I approached the later labs (I did these in order) I found myself
finishing in about 1/2 to 2/3 the allocated times. To add a little bit of
honesty here, I still found myself making careless mistakes, but my speed
was getting better.

Now I'm near my lab date (4 weeks) and I'm really focused on speed. Labs
that I've done in the past (and unfortunately, I can't help but to remember
some of the tricks) don't take long at all to complete. As I type this, I
just finished lab 3 in about 2 hrs total. (Didn't do the apple/dec stuff
though.)

I don't know if 1 hr for Lab 1, 2 hrs Lab 3 etc are good times or not, but I
believe it shows improvement.

There are a couple labs I haven't yet attempted - Lab 18, Lab 19. I'd like
to do those ones fresh AND racing the clock.

Anybody else have feedback about this? I asked this question about a month
ago and didn't get a lot of responses. The one response I got said "if you
can do Lab 8 in 4-6 hrs your first time through, you're ready for the lab".
Unfortunately, it took me far longer than that my first time through it...
