Andrew,
You can get back to R2 with the following sequence:
CTRL-SHIFT-6
CTRL-SHIFT-6
X
The first CTRL-SHIFT-6 gets R1's attention, the second one tells R1 to
send a CTRL-SHIFT-6 down the line to R2, and the X will be read by R2 and
take you to the prompt.
