An AGS+ with several serial ports will be your cheapest alternative. It's
loud and kicks out the heat but it's < $500 and the cables are reasonably
priced.
I would recommend a 2522 if you have ~$1000 to spend. It's got 8 sync
ports on it that you can use for a frame switch and it makes almost no noise.
I use an AGS+ as my frame and DLSW agg box in my lab. It's ungodly loud
but it was free.
Cables can be had at www.pacficcable.com. Dave can hook you up there.
If you go the 2522 route you can find an endless supply of DCE/DTE xover
cables for the 2500s on ebay. I got all mine for like $21 a piece.
