Strange Issue with a catalyst 2948-G

All,

I have a strange issue with a catalyst 2948-g running ver 6.2.1, I have a
cable modem connected to one port (2/1) and a PC connected to another port
(2/2), all the settings are correct and I can ping any address on the
internet, the problem is I can't browse to any website although the PC is
able to resolve the name. I thought it could be a PC issue so I did
everything possible to get this working but with no luck, then I changed my
switch and used a 2924 and everything worked just fine.

Any suggestions to what might cause this................
