Hi Everyone,
I can do with some help..to bring some sanity back...in the setup am
working.
Bridging a few vlans into a bridge group using irb/bvi/'bridge 1 route ip'.
Trunking them into a router-isl/sub-interfaces/irb/bvi to get 'routing on a
stick'. All these vlans are on ospf domain.
I tried a few setups :
First with no ip add for the sub-intf on the trunked router and a single bvi
with primary and multiple secondary addresses for additional vlans. Started
getting errors on individual vlan/routers saying its having an outside
network on its local lan-due to secondary addresses on the bvi?
Secondly, no ip add on the bvi - but every sub-intf with its own ip subnet,
everything was fine.
Thirdly, no ip add on individual sub-int on trunked router - but multiple
bvi's each with corresponding bridge groups and ip addresses representing
the vlan. Of course, multiple STP's and bridge groups!
Will i be able to say that all these vlans' individual bridge groups get
bridged thro' the trunked router?
Which one is better of the second or third?
Another side-bar question:
1.If i do a 'no bridge 1 bridge ip' on the trunked router,
I get the following error message and also the neighbor
formation is gone!!!
*Mar 1 01:13:39.135 UTC: %IPFAST-2-PAKSTICK: Corrupted pak header for BVI1,
flags 0x80
-Traceback= 8017AEF0 80D670D0 800295B8 8029803C 80295A8C 80269D5C 802896A4
802896A4 80269E1C 8026DEE0 8027002C 8026B1B0 80008120
a.My understanding is ospf mcast / hellos should still be reaching
on the same ospf network type - of broadcast in this case. Why did the
adjacency not happening? I must have had the ip add on the sub-int OR on
the BVI - for sure when i got this error. Also what is this error?
I disable ip route-cache on all these interfaces - including bvi?
Sorry for the loooong posting ...
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Ramesh.
