I would very much appreciate any suggestions on how I might be able to
recover a 2502. I didnt' realize it was a cpa until after I had loaded
a
normal image onto the flash and configured it to use the new image.
(the
case looks new and is not white, and when I bought it, I wasn't told it
was
a pro)
As a safety precaution, I didn't delete the old image (but I can't
figure
out the name of it) and I have
boot system flash newimage
boot system flash oldimage
in the config.
Now, my problem is that the new image actually boots and then hits the
stupid cookie/license issue and then reboots, so it never attempts the
oldimage. I'm in an endless booting cycle.
I can break out to rommon mode, but the code there is old, and for some
reason, I can't figure out how to reset the config register. (it has a
much
smaller menu than my other 2500s) I can show it, using an O command, but
cannot seem to change it. I also don't have any of the copy commands in
rommon.
As far as tftp, I do not have any other token ring devices, so I can't
access it via the lan and use the RSL or whatever software (the
interface is
admin down anyways), but I do have another router configured as a tftp
server connected to s1. If I break at just the right time to rommon
mode, I
can catch the s1 int in an up down state, but never up up. So I can't
get
tftp to work, even when I set the addr to 255.255.255.255. (and I do
have
the cpa25-upgrade file on the tftp server in case it ever does work)
Anybody have any ideas?
Obviously, figuring out how to change my config register would solve
everything, as would being able to bring that serial line up up, or even
booting from a rom image or being able to specify the other image from
flash. (I looked up the names on cco already and tried every cpa25xxxxx
image I could find. none of them worked.)
thanks,
-tom
