Or you could use the old 'cross-hands' trick!

If you're unfamiliar with this, this is how it goes:

(On a per OCTET basis)

(1) Hold your hands in front of you palms down. Tuck your thumbs in, and now
represent the bits in your octet by either tucking in a finger (0) or
leaving it sticking out (1).

(2) Now, cross your hands over AND turn your hands palm up (WITHOUT
adjusting your finger positions).

(3) You have now got your converted octect (either non-canonical to
canonical or vice-versa) !!

Can be great for that sanity check in the lab!
