You can simulate an IGMP_JOIN with the interface command, ip igmp join-group
x.x.x.x.

If you're running sparse-mode only, multicast traffic recieved on an
interface will be pruned if there are no recievers. The ip igmp join-group
command will make a static entry for that group (make a static reciever) and
the router won't prune for that group.

Subject: multicast question

Hi group,
If I don't have any multicast source or receivers in my lab, can I trick
the
routers in believing there're multicast devices so that they won't prune

back the spt? Any help will be appreciated.
