"name" keyword in "ip route" command for IOS 12.1(6)

I have noticed the an option in IOS 12.1(6) that lets you use the "name"
keyword in a static route, then specify a name, as follows:

ip route 10.165.0.0 255.255.0.0 10.165.0.2 name CheckPointFirewall

Is this just for descriptive purposes? The Cisco docs are unclear to me.
All the docs have to say about this keyword are:

(Optional) Name of the user profile.

I'm not sure if any versions of 12.0 have this "name" keyword, but I want to
make sure I know what it does.
