Chuck,
Right of when looking at the question and knowing that ospf with
a AD of 110 uses external-type 2(E2) as it default metric-type on
redistribution. Also, in noting the difference between;
a) E1 (ext type 1) - Which uses a defined/default cost at redistribution to
the ASBR (entry point into the process routing domain) plus any cost(of the
outgoing interface) to it's destination.
b) E2 (ext. type 2) - Which uses a defined/default cost at redistribution to
the ASBR (entry point into the process routing domain) without the
additional(internal) cost to it's destination.
Ospf also will use a E2 defined route before a E1 defined route as the ospf
process defines E2 routes with a higher degree of preference. Also noting
that with both E1 and E2 routes the process itself still has an AD of
110(unlike eigrp which uses a ext route AD of 170) with the default metric
of 20 for E2 routes.
My answer: b
Although I'm guessing based on your last statement that it's probably (a).
I'm off to read/scan Howard's paper on CZone. It is very possible that
Howard has some information in his paper not found on the DOC CD.
Without doing any research, the only thing that comes to mind is "forwarding
metrics" on the assigned routes.
I've I been mislead all this time.
Nigel.
