The 2948G is built on the Granite chipset that doesn't support
the long frames that ISL does. The same goes for the other mem-
bers of the Catalyst 4000 series of switches as well as the 9-
port GE blade for C5K.

Are you sure MISTP isn't supported with dot1q? I'm almost sure
I've done both MISTP and PVST on boxes running a combination of
ISL and dot1q.
