During my preparation I created checklists on individual topics using
multiple sources. It's not that hard to do once you start reading about a
specific topic, look at the configuration task lists on the doc CD, tech
tips on CCO and just using your imagination. Most all of the topics on the
doc CD have configuration task lists. I went over each topic and focused on
just that topic striving to know 100% of that topic. I had very little
experience with several topics and had to spent 2-3 weeks on them. That
will depend on your background. Sure I studied hoards of stuff that wasn't
on there, but that helps you walk in there with all the confidence in the
world. This worked for me and I passed on my first attempt.

Now that I am a CCIE I still know of topics like the PIX that I have been
focusing on in the same fashion. As we all know the PIX is not on the R/S
exam, but I think it's something a CCIE should know cold.
