Eric,

Hope I'm not bothering you...this may be slightly off-topic. But I've
been
working in a lab at work with a couple of 3640s with ATM interfaces and
can't seem to get a PVC up through 2 ASX200bx switches. Very basic config
VPI 10 VCI 100 same on the 3600s with encapsulation aal5snap and a simple
map ip statement also on the routers. When I connect the 2 routers
back-to-back they come up no problem.

Are there any Cisco-Fore gliches you're aware of that may be causing th
is
problem? Any advice or pointers in the right direction would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks, Frank

For the terminal server how about a Cisco CS-500? Much cheaper than a
2509-2512 but no wan ports.

As far as ATM switches I have seen many cheap Fore ASX-200BX's along with
Cabletron ATM switches. Both work very well as I have a couple of Fore
200's and a Cabletron 2500.

For Token Ring the Olicom 8600 (I think) and the Cabletron STS-16 are the
same product for the most part. Just some minor menu tweaks. They all use
the BRF/CRF functions just like the 3900 series.

For a Frame Switch you can occasionally find a Cabletron FRX4000/6000 real
cheap. Pain in the ass to configure with a horrible menu interface but it
does work.
