While many things can be found in archives I don't see what's wrong with
asking an opinion about lab equipment (things change often). If he already
bought several boxes he probably went through some initial steps and
pointing to original list of equipment on cisco site may not always help.
We learn to ask questions - please be tolerant. What you think it's stupid
may be a big deal for someone else.
I disagree with questioning "big organizations'" hiring procedures just
based on one question (which may or may not be relevant to one's duties).
