I recently subscribed to the list and, per list custom, I wanted to take the
opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Brent Stewart. I live in
Hickory, NC, although I don't know why I phrase it that way. I work for
Global Knowledge as a Cisco instructor and I travel constantly.
I owned a small ISP and consultancy until recently, sold it to my partner
and am now trying to bring my certs up to date to compete in the job market.
I sit for the qualification exam on Friday, March 2nd.
My prep to this point has been (1) prepping for the CCNP level classes that
I teach, (2) GK course material, Perlman, Moy, and Halabi (excellent), Exam
Cram (good for recap), and Lammle books (ok, I suppose, but the CCIE book is
particularly poorly edited). I have a lab that consists of two 2501s, a
2502, a 2503, a 1548 microswitch, and a PIX. If anyone is in the area and
wants to pool resources, my lab is accessible via a friends cable modem and
I would love to discuss it with you (off list).
I have a wife, a son, and a daughter, and I am terribly jealous of my
limited time with them. I feel like such a slacker because I refuse to
obsess over this and take time away from them. So I study in the wee hours
of the night, the morning, or while stranded in an airport.
