Changing OSPF route metric on per route basis

Hello Group,

I know that I can change metric on per route basis
with RIP/IGRP using offset-list with ACL passed to it,
but would like to know ways to do the same with OSPF.
Can I change the metric of inter/intra area routes
being learned by a particular router as they are
received. If yes, can somebody post the ways to
accomplish this.

Eg.

R1-------Ospf Cloud with multiple routers----R9

I want to change the metric of routes coming into R9
and want to set metric of certain OSPF routes
(inter/intra/external) to a lower value and other
higher. I have no control of other OSPF running
routers

Help would be appreciated...
