Hey a exec-PC'er! I was on their BBS along time ago
before they did the internet thing.

I would say to try to touch every feature in IOS you
can. Besides the normal labs, I would make up your own
wacked out scenarios, combine labs, etc.

I didn't find time management a issue; the key here is
having a good attack plan & diagram after getting your
assignment. It may not be perfect but allows for quick
configuration of what you have paper, minus any snags
or weak areas.

Knowing the CD is good if you need to use it. Some
people like it; some don't. I use the online version
at cisco.com when needed. I should probably study it
but I'd rather get hands on with every part of IOS I
can. If I see a command/feature I'm not familiar with
I'll go play with it. Same with this list/usenet/etc -
if I see something I don't know or haven't done I'll
play with it.

On the job experience is a great plus. The books you
listed are excellent resources.

Bottom line! Practice, play, whatever you want to call
it as much as possible.
