Personally the test I had was not specifically "hard." however it did have a
LOT of tricks imbedded in it. If you had seen the tricks, then the test was
fairly straightforward. If you didnt see or understand the tricks, then you
were toast.

To this end which is more difficult, a really tricked-out OSPF config, or a
basic IS-IS config. I learned basic IS-IS in a few hours. Even if I didnt
know it, i could have probably done it on the test.

More people are now taking the test for the nth time. That means that now
know how to prepare and statistically more will pass.

Also, more people in general are getting into the Cisco world. Even an old
boos of mine, very non-technical, said he just got his CCNA.

Finally, people are preparing better, IMHO. I looked at many of the topics
discussed here as i was studying and i was shaken up by the in-depth &
complexity. ECP1 helped clear a lot of issues up as well as the bootcamp
labs. For instance, i remember thread after thread about ATM without ILMI.
Because many people are now spending lots of time truly understanding the
topics and the tricks, more people are passing.

Just my thoughts

Is it that the test is easier, or just that there are now better preparation
methods? I'd imagine that this mailing list, ASET, ECP1, FatKid,
CCBootcamp, etc are all huge advantages that weren't available a couple
years ago. I can't imagine Cisco doing things to make the test easier.
That's Microsoft's job :)

I just got my CCIE a few days ago and was disapointed at how easy the test
was (by comparision to my other attempts).

The raw number of new CCIE in the last few weeks seems to confirm that the
new tests are infact easier than the old ones.

While I am quite happy to have passed, I am also quite concerned that the
number of CCIEs is going to double this year with the newly watered down
tests and bigger labs.

Does anyone else have a comment on this?
