I have a freeware utility that compresses the IOS image. Compression is
normal in alot of routers (3600, 7000 ect). 2500s don't normally compress
the image but they will recognize the image and decompress it with no
problems. At least I have seen none. It does come with a use at your own
risk disclaimer. I got from the studygroup.professional newsgroup and have
used it on several routers with no problems. It only helps with flash, you
will still need enough ram to run the image. For example it compressed
c2500-is-l.120-9 from 7.5 MB to 3.5MB. I loaded it into a router with 4 MB
flash and it runs fine. Anyone interested send me an email and I will send
it. the zip file is 54k.
