It's part of a plan for proxying CGMP for routers that only speak DVMRP. A
cisco can proxy CGMP for the DVMRP speaker, you would use the "set multicast
router" command on the switch to tell the switch what port the DVMRP router
is on, the switch then handle IGMP forwarding correctly. It's all related to
the ip cgmp proxy router command.
Something tells me I read a little too much about multicasting
yesterday...I'll be fine for the CCIE Multicast exam I guess.
