David,

Noticed a couple of areas:

 - believe you probably have some static routes also in your configs

 - You have the spids and dialer strings defined at the right places
Check with 'show isdn status', and you'll see MULTIPLE FRAME
ESTABLISHED, spids defined, spids correct (except if you're using
12.0(7)T, which is a cosmetic bug)

 - the dialer interfaces on SATELLITE-1 i'd recommend should use
    'dialer remote-name HEADQUARTERS'.

One thing to note on PPP debugs is that you can see the incoming and
outgoing direction of each stage (LCP, IPCP, etc..) of negotiation
result messages, and go back to the origin to check/fix your configs.

 - simplify things a little at the HEADQUARTERS dialer interface first,
and remove the 'ppp chap hostname' commands first.

Then try again, and post your debugs:

 - debug ppp negotiation
 - debug ppp authentication

satellite office and with the config on Headquarters having two dialer
interfaces configured to call the same remote destination. Caslow says
the second dialer interface could be used as a backup. The dialer
strings under my dialer interfaces are for the respective phone number
configured on the switch. Also, I am not sure if I have the spid
definitions in the right place when using dialer interfaces?

that the hostname HEADQUARTERS is not found. I have it defined on the
satellite router and have everything exactly the way Caslow has it in his
book, with noooooo luck. I have tried all the appropriate debugs. Has
anyone else has this problem. Can someone help?
