I think saying the virtual ring should never appear on Ethernet
routers doing DLSw is a bit strong. The source-bridge ring-group
command is required for token ring operation with DLSw and not
required for Ethernet. My Ethernet DLSw configs work just fine
without the source-bridge ring-group. I find that many people
make a common practice of including the virtual ring on any DLSw
config. It does no harm and may give you desirable flexibility
for altering configs at some time in the future as requirements
change.
