Roddie,
I did exactly as you described for my first lab attempt in Dec. I think the
class is well worth the money and time, Bruce did an excellent job as a
teacher and Mentor. My thoughts on it in retrospect are as follows.
Before the class I thought I was 70%-80% ready after the class I though 50%.
Which hurt me because I knew what I was weak in but had no time to study in
those area's before the lab. The class shows you the area's your week in and
need to work on but you have to give yourself time to work on them before
your test. Bruce defines 4 levels of CCIE lab candidate.
Level 1 (going to fail shouldn't be there) Level 2 (Going to fail by a small
margin) Level 3 (going to pass by a small margin) Level 4 (Passes easily) I
went in thinking level 3 and came out thinking level 2. I failed the lab by
a small margin, proctors said for first attempt did an excellent job. I
think if I had given myself time after the ECP1 class I would have passed
first try. You have around 4 months till your lab. If you can get into the
ECP1 class with say 45 days before your lab it will benefit you much more.

Just my opinion on my own experiences.

Subject: ECP1 in the home-stretch..

Hi all,

I've got about 125 days left until my lab in SJ and I am considering
taking Caslow's ECP1 course sometime between now and then. I have heard
enough praise about the course to know that it's worth taking, my question
is related to timing.

My first thought was to take the course the immediate week before the lab
exam (May 14-18), and then just index the doc CD over the weekend and take
the exam on the 22nd. I was told that this might not be a great idea as I
would need at least two weeks after ECP1 to absorb it properly.

My plan was to be essentially ready for the lab by the time I hit SJ and
to use ECP1 as momentum and rhythm going into the lab (as well as to
pick-up the things that I can't practice at home [ATM and Voice]).

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
Roddie
