Hi Bruce,
I joined the list a couple of weeks ago and am scheduled to take my lab in=
San Jose April 20 +21. After talking to several people about an approach,=
here is my consensus:
I have gone through all of the CIM modules and they are an ok starting=
point. They give good basic practice in a controlled environment.
I have also gone through the CCIE All In One Study Guide and while the labs=
are very basic, it gives a pretty good overview of each technology. I=
think by going through each of those labs would make a good start. =
Depending on the equipment you have available to you, you may want to buy=
some time on something like VLABs or something similar. If you plan on=
taking the ECP1 course you can purchase the VLABs at a discounted price. I=
have done this and am attending the ECP1 class in March. The Caslow book=
you get free if you sign up for the ECP1 course, just thought I would let=
you know before you go out and buy it separately. As far as the other=
books go, the Jeff Doyle book (Routing TCP/IP) I have found to be=
incredibly useful....excellent book. I also purchased the Cisco IP Routing=
"Little Black Book" by Innokenty Rudenko, which seems to have a lot of=
hands on labs and tips throughout. I have to agree with Ronnie, use the=
books as a reference point and make sure hands-on is your #1 priority.
I hope this helps=20
