It looks as if you just did a password recovery on the box. It's set up
to boot ignoring the config in NVRAM. But, the config-register has been
changed to indeed read the config next time it boots. I'd reboot it and
see if it changes to 0x2102 (the normal setting) before attempting to
configure your lab scenario. If iy still comes up with 0x2142, then try
entering "configuration-register 0x2102" in config mode, write memory, and
reload again.
You really want it to be 0x2102 before entering your lab config, or
you're asking for trouble.
