forward address is not specified (0.0.0.0) since there are no OSPF neighbors
on Router hqddc7k3's ethernet interface which is runnig RIP protocol.
for example:
Rip Rip area 1 area 0
------------(R0)e1-----------eo(R1)e1-------------e0(R2)e1--------------e0(R
3)e1
192.168.2.0 192.168.1.0/24 10.1.1.0/24 10.1.2.0/24
when you redistribute Rip into OSPF on R1, you show ip ospf database
external 192.168.2.0 on R2
forward address will be 0.0.0.0 because R1 e0 doesn't have OSPF neighbors.

Subject: question on "forward address"
i can't find any docs on the following: when i view type 5 (externals) in
the
lsa database, what is the "forward address" & in this case, why would it be
0.0.0.0? shouldn't it be the next hop ip addess in the path towards the asbr
(which is hqddc7k3, 10.1.254.61) that is redistributing (in this case) an e2
route from bgp? this is just a guess but maybe the 0.0.0.0 indicates that
after
this route is installed in the routing table, it is installed w/ the next
hop ip
address of this router's ospf neighbor (10.1.250.26) that sent the lsa to
it?
