CDP will work even when neighbors are on a Hub (i.e ethernet, or token ring
MAU).
The only limitation if there is a intermediate Cisco device (like Ethernet
switch).
The reason being is that CDP announcements are not forwarded by Cisco
devices (including
switches), they just reach 1 hop away from the originating device. So, if
you had a Eth Switch,
the switch would show all the Cisco devices attached as neighbors, but would
not propagate
that info.
My understanding CDP is not supported on ATM, but ILMI may provide some
info on neighbors (dont think it supports anything other than IP).
