Most of the labs use Teltones for small setups and use Adtrans for the
larger simulations.

I use the Elmeg C88m from www.elmeg.com. It cost me around £600 ($840) new
and
is upgradeable to 11*S0. The basic model has 3*S0 and it also operates as a
PABX with analogue ports included, ideal for async routing/FXO VoIP
connections etc..

This uses the Basic-NET3 switch type as it is European.

It is a super piece of kit, works fine in my Cisco lab.

Hope this helps.
