Removing LANE isn't show a lack of confidence in ATM. Not to start a holy
war but ATM will be around for a long long time, just not LANE. Expect MPOA
to remain in the lab (MPOA is layer 3 which does some neat useful tricks,
whereas LANE seemed more like a layer 2 hack).

I tend to agree more VoIP is likely. I also think some firewall features
(CBAC, etc.) and IPSec will become more prominent. I'm not sure about
ATM...by removing LANE are they sending a message that they feel ATM is not
as important as it used to be, or are they simply moving the focus from LANE
to - say - PVCs?
I definitely feel they will fill with IP rather than IPX. I'm assuming they
are not putting what the replacements are on the web page since
"everything's fair game" anyway. I was actually amazed they let us off the
hook on LANE, Appletalk, X.25, etc.

I have basically quit working on studying for Appletalk and Lane since
it is going to be out of the test by 2/1/2001.
