I was asked to configure a couple of Apple tunnels. Simple enough. Took me
over an hour.
*Hint Especially when using RIP/IGRP, disable routing updates on the tunnel
interfaces with the 'passive-interface tunnel x' command; otherwise, if you
are as one-track-minded as I can be, you'll not get the Apple connectivity
up and be convinced it's an Apple mis-configuration issue when in-fact
you've started a routing loop and killed all IP connectivity to the tunnel
destination. (I read that the tunnel interface is supposed to shut down in
this situation - it didn't)
I often surprise myself with how stupid I can be.
I hope I save someone else from this pitfall.
