You would use first statement.

dlsw icanreach mac-address 4004.0404.0000 mask ffff.ffff.0000.

Beware that this is incorrect in the 12.0 doc set as it states that f is the
don't care bit.

Subject: Dlsw question

If I want to restrict explorer packets for MAC's beginning with 4000.0404,
do I do this:

dlsw icanreach mac-address 4000.0404.0000 mask ffff.ffff.0000

or this:

dlsw icanreach mac-address 4000.0404.0000 mask 0000.0000.ffff

I know that if I were to use a mac-address filter (ACL 200-299) the proper
mask is 0000.0000.ffff but what about in this case.

I am a little fuzzy on what mask to use here.

Thanks,

DK
