YOU CANNOT UPGRADE THE 2500 VIA CONSOLE OR AUX. There are some platforms
that can use xmodem (16XX,36XX) but most cannot. Here is the link that

I think that I may beg to differ (I think because I've done it with 26xx
and
36xx routers, but haven't tried a 25xx yet).

Other routers I can boot up into BOOT ROM mode and initiate an X-Modem
transfer. It is usually advisable to increase the console baud rate before
starting the transfer, but this method has worked for me!
