But will it send summary route? Here is my ASCII drawing.

172.16.10.0/24--(e0)R1(e1)----172.16.20.0/24----(e1)R2(e0)---

If R1 and R2 are using RIP1. and you use "ip summary-route 172.16.0.0 mask
255.255.0.0" on E1 or R1, will it show up on R2? I tried and it doesn't.
Because RIP1 doesn't have subnet mask in update so R1 will send out only /24
networks to a /24 interface.

If somebody have it working against the behavior of RIP1 please post configs
and routing table.

lab that asks me to configure RIP to only unicast a summary route of
140.1.0.0 to a neighbor router. I have searced CCO and tried doing this
with no luck. Is this even possible or is the author of the lab on drugs?
