What specifically are you referring to? Yes, I ask a lot of questions, but
yes, I also do a lot of my own research....I spent 20 minutes searching CCO
for the keystroke that would let me use the question mark, and then I
searched the archives before I asked the question. At least my questions
are related to testable material, unlike half the other questions on this
list about equipment for sale, lab date swaps, and questions about equipment
that isn't even used in the lab. As far as your statement that most of my
questions are solvable, that is absolutely ridiculous criticism...Of course
most of them are solvable, I'm sure you'd be more upset if I asked
non-sensical, un-solvable questions.
Also, I make sure I let people know if their solution helped solve my
problem...To avoid further cluttering this list with my endless e-mails, I
only respond to the list itself if someone's solution didn't fix my
problem...If you don't see a response from me, It's because the response was
directed at whomever was kind enough to offer their help in the first place
and it is usually not much more that a "thanks for your help, that solved my
problem." The only question I have left unresolved was the one I asked
about BGP synchronization interacting with OSPF and the designated
router...Certainly not a "basic command problem" especially seeing as how I
was observing behavior that was directly contrary to what I expected to see
according to the RESEARCH that I did. The only reason I haven't posted a
solution is because I haven't had time to replicate the scenario yet (I
don't have my own home lab, I use the one at work).
I like to think that my questions are more that "basic command problems and
design solutions" although if you remove the "basic" from that statement, I
think those are the most relevant type of questions for this list. Command
problems and design solutions...Isn't that what the test is about?
I know you weren't tryin to be harsh, but I must admit that I found you
email a bit offensive....i try to answer as many questions as I ask,
although that isn't always possible, and I try to be as reponsive and
courteous as I can when dealing with others son the list. I think that
there is a much more pleasant way to say whatever it is you are trying to
say to me, and in all honesty, I still think it is unwarranted. In the
future, I will try to confine myself to higher-level questions, but keep in
mind the reason I joined this list was to contribute what I know, on draw on
the immense resource that is the kind, knowledgeable people who use the
list. Sometimes, when all else fails, a quick question to the members of
the list is the best way to find a solution to the problem, and if you are
sick of wading through my garbage, I'm sure there is some sort of inbox
filter you can implement.
Humbly yours,
Jack
