   Greg... your assumption is correct. If you only have 8MB of RAM, you
   are limited to 3.2 code (and it is a special 8MB version). The note
   discussing this is here:

   http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat5000/c5krn/sw_r
   ns/78_6024.htm#xtocid264364

     For releases 3.2(3) and later, you must have at least 16-MB DRAM
   installed on your supervisor engine.

     For releases 3.1(1) through 3.2(2), we recommend you have a minimum
   of 16-MB dynamic RAM (DRAM) installed on your supervisor engine.
   Supervisor Engine I modules with 8-MB DRAM do support these releases;
   however, you must use the 8-MB version of the software image (see
   Table 3) and you must run a minimal configuration. For more
   information, see the "Usage Guidelines, Restrictions, and
   Troubleshooting" section.

   So at this point your recovery options are limited, if you have a
   service contract, the easiest thing to bail you out if to call TAC and
   RMA (I'm not kidding. Sup 3's are much easier to recover from this
   type of situation... I's and II's are trickier :-). Here is some
   guidance on recovery: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/26.html
