The Global Knowledge 3-day course (Geo Train) was VERY basic and just
covered common used commands. There were no REAL WORLD examples of what to
do and what not to do and there were NO BEST PRACTICES examples. The class
is adequate for going over the very BASICS of BGP. This class is
misleading in the name of 'Advanced BGP configuration' because there is
nothing advanced about it. It's all BGP 101. If you are a total stranger
to BGP then it should be a good primer. The class is too short to teach
anything of substance. My teacher was clued but he just did not have the
time to get into indepth BGP. 3-days is simply too short. BGP could
easily be a 10-day course.
I would recommend getting a job at a place like Abovenet, UU, Internap,
Exodus, etc where you can learn realtime BGP from people who live, eat and
breath it. Otherwise you are missing out if '3-day Advanced BGP
Configuration' is your only exposure.
