I don't feel like that question violates the NDA. I hope no-one else on the
list is that anal either. Everything is on the patch panel. The proctor
will demonstrate how the connections are made. Each port on the panel is
labeled eg. router1 serial1. The patch panel ports for serial connections
have both dce and dte connections one over the other. The cable you use to
patch with is a special cable that has the same pin configuration on each
end. It is up to you to determine if not given in the instructions which
router will be dte and which will be dce. All router lan and switch ports
are also on the panel. The cables for these are standard rj45. It is very
easy to figure out but one word of warning, check to ensure that your cables
plug in tightly and you get good physical connection. I found that the
cables were not in the best of condition.
Good luck and don't sweat the small stuff, there is already enough anxiety
on your first attempt.
