In the humble quest for multi-CCIE. . .
Could someone on this list who has taken the Design Lab
(without violating NDA for those sensitive types - grin):
Please point me in the right direction of equipment needs
if you were going to privately finance a "simulation lab"
to train for the Design Lab.
And before I get flamed, at the bottom of this email is
the Cisco provided equipment list. The provided list
could easily push $100,000~$200,000 to cover it if all
of this equipment is in the Design rack or backbone.
As I remember it, Cisco is in the business of pushing
equipment, s/w, and expensive memory). . . (grin)
For instance:
* The 650x, do I need a MSFC / PFC on the Supervisor?
The Campus Design requirements hint at this.
* Do I need the 75/72xx routers? Would a smaller router
like a 36xx or even 26xx work for what Cisco tasks you
to accomplish in the lab? I am guessing that these
devices may have something to do with the SONET, or
higher bandwidth WAN possibilities that Cisco lists.
* Is the CallManager 2.4 or 3.0?
* Do I need 1 or 2 PIX's (including backbone devices)?
* Do I need a ATM switch (not listed directly - but ATM
is, and SVC based ATM needs this)?
* What IOS level should be on the equipment (12.0 IP+,
Enterprise, Service Provider)?
Each piece of equipment above is costly - I am only asking
to appropriately spend money for Design lab equipment.
Also, other than references to NVT as a NSA tool, and my
local Cisco rep being clueless to its existence, where or
how do I get ahold of it?
Lastly, I know the answer's are only a thousand dollars,
plus travel to find out (grin). . .
