   David,
   Good Point.
Have you thought of having the gentleman arrested for FRAUD??????
I do believe FRAUD is still quite illegal on 50 of the states in the
   US.

What can be done about people claiming to be CCIE certified when in
   fact they're not?

Although the CCIE number protects against this somewhat there are
still a great number of employeers that don't bother to check,
especially with contract staff. This started earlier today as I spoke
to an agency and when I informed them that I was taking time out to
study for my CCIE, the agent replied with "Why bother, we've got one
CCIE on out database and he's not very impressive". This suprised me
as all the CCIEs I've met as a rule fairly good. I inquired who that
was and it turned out to be someone who's claimed the certification in
the past but didn't even know what enable mode was!

I'm working hard as I'm sure all the member of this group are or have
in the past to gain this cert, it really pisses me off that people get
a way with these lies. It of course de-values the certification as
well, if this fake CCIE turns up on site makes a real mess of things
it's natural that the empoyeer will think twice about trusting the
   cert again.

I checked this guy out with Cisco and they just confirmed that he has
   not got a CCIE:

   He is not CCIE.

     Sir / Madam,
I would be very grateful if you could provide a CCIE check on the
     following guy:
His name is Indra Van Der Ven and I'm positive he is NOT cerified
as a CCIE due to his lack of knowledge but I'd like you to confirm
this one way or the other as he claims he is CCIE certified.
Is there anything Cisco can do about this? As you know the market
for CCIEs is great at the moment hence employeers will employ staff
based on the CCIE alone. I've spent a lot of time and money
studying for my CCIE, people making false claims is not very
motivating but what really annoys me is that poor staff that claim
to be a CCIE badly devalue the cert.
     Regards,
     David.
