As I understand it, all Data Link layer information (including the ring #
which would be located in the RIF) is stripped off when data is passed
across a DLSW connection...The routers determine if the destination MAC
address or NetBIOS name are reachable through either canureach messages or
netbios name queries...Thus, the ring # itself is not passed from one peer
router to another, so no real advantage would be gained...I believe if you
configure DLSW using FST over Frame-relay, you can configure RIF passthru,
which would carry the RIF between the peers...In that case, the ring # would
have to be the same.
