All,
I am trying to cover the possible isdn scenarios for a rapidly upcoming lab
date.
Here are my findings and the issue at hand.
The command ppp authentication chap callin ( if placed on r1 ) will not
require authentication of router 2 ( providing r1 places the call ).
Hence one-way authentication.
Here is the reference link.
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/131/ppp_callin_hostname.html
The scenario which I am having problems with is such.
I attempt to have r2 call r1, but not have r1 challenge r2. I have found this
can be done by using the no ppp authentication chap command on r1. However,
with this configuration r1 will bring up the second B channel and call r2.
There is a similar reference to this issue in section 7 of the pdf files for
the networkers 2000 convention. ( ppp without authentication )
R1 has the correct map statements but calls r2 with the second b channel. If
ppp authentication chap is configured on both sides the call brings up a single
b channel, is authenticated and works fine.
IS THERE ANY WAY BESIDES CALLER ID, TO NOT HAVE R1 CHALLENGE R2 AND PLACE
THE RETURN PACKETS ON THE B CHANNEL WHICH IS ALREADY UP ???
Thanks in Advance,
David Ryan
