There is also a new command in the newer IOS. Set port X/X host. It turns
off spanning tree and trunk negotiation all at once. Much easier.

No. Spanning tree is not disabled for the port. The switch
just skips the listening and learning phases and takes the
port directly to forwarding.

portfast <port> enable'.
