The 2948G runs catOS and is a bit like a 5000. NOT the 2948G-L3. It is not lik
e a 5000 at all. The 2948G-L3 runs IOS and is more like an 8540.
An old catalyst 2926 or 2901 would help you with catOS.
The L3 would be good to practice with bridge groups and BVIs, but it's not goin
g to help with cat5000 vLANs.

Subject: The 2948G-L3
I don't have a 2948G-L3 switch but from reading Cisco's website it appears
to be related more to the 5000 series than it is the 2900 series. Given
that, is it possible to learn on the 2948G-L3 switch in preparation for the
CCIE lab? I don't want to have to purchase a 5000 if I can avoid it.
