You could also define a escape character under line con 0
escape-character 23 ( 23 is Ctrl-w).

When working in the lab I always change the telnet timeout to try and
save myself precious seconds when I actually take the real exam.
The command is:
ip tcp synwait-time <5-300>
This will affect all connections made from the router so take that into
account when you have telnet connections that are made as part of
another protocol.

Subject: telnet timeout
Does anyone know how to change the Telnet timeout, so when your telnet
is failing you don't have to wait 30+ seconds for it to time out?
Bonus Question(not that important): Is there a way to break out of a
ping?
thanks
Brian
