Collisions on shared ethernet are normal Hence CSMA-CD technology. If you
are running switched ethernet at half duplex, you will still see collisions.
If you are running switched at full duplex, then you should not see
collisions. If however you still see collisions, make sure you have the
switch port nailed up for full duplex and 10 or 100 Mb. Do not let the auto
detect feature negotiate the connection since it has been found to be
un-reliable with some NICs.
