try a show ip bgp regexp XXXXX
where XXXXX is the regexp you are thinking about using,
it will list which routes match the REGEXP.

see if this one works for your routing table

show ip bgp regexp _(4)_

then try this one

show ip bgp regexp _4_

Please let me know what your results are

I'm not sure if this fully addresses the situation, as least as far as I
understood it. This document, while helpful, does not mention cases with
parentheses in the AS path.

I have never tried this myself, so I'm kind of curious to know more about
it. Do you use literal parentheses in the 'ip as-path access-list' command?
Does _ match parentheses? If it does, do you need two of them to match a
parenthesis followed by a space?

Thanks,
Keith
