The TR mau I'm using isn't a TYPE-1, it has RJ45 interfaces.

I have two of those MAUs at home and I don't use any jumper from RI to RO.
I use just a db9-to-type1 cable from the router to the MAU and it works
fine. I heard from someone that sometimes MAU ports need to be "reset" when
they get stuck (there's a tool that does that). You might wanna try a
different port or cable and see if that's the case.
