RE: Passing the test

What do you think a certification should be? Obviously MS certs are becoming
a joke (no offense), the CCIE seems to be based on a curve where they only
allow so many to pass every quarter. If you were developing a new
certification program, what would be the most important aspects? How would
you keep the cert credible, yet fair.

Obviously the #1 purpose of these certs is to raise money for the company
through (1) growing the knowledge base of your product, so customers will
buy your product b/c it is easy to find employees to support it, and (2) by
selling books, courses and lab fees.

I know the CCIE process is frustrating (I took a step back and failed to
reach day two on my second attempt), but I think it is a great model for
other certifications. Your input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian
