We dont talk about the troubleshooting portion very much on this
list. I would like to start some discussion.
I always take the OSI model approach to my troubleshooting. Although
it is thorough, it may be more time consuming than other approaches.
I start with layer 1. That is, I check all of my physical connections
first. Then I would go to layer 2. This would include making sure
that all of my interfaces are in an up-up state, including tunnels and
dlsw peer connections. Lastly, I start pinging everywhere and getting
the routing fixed. If all three layers are working everywhere, you
know you got all the errors.
Does anyone have a different approach they think is better?
